Thought for the Day..?
When I peeped into the dainty nest,
The nightingale had flown off
The eggs were left unprotected
For she knew the abode of her dreams
Awaited the chopper’s axe
The white winged guest from Siberia
On her winter sojourn
Got lost midway
For her crystal lake and leafy ravines
Were laced with sky scrapers
And that was not her place to roost….
Wither mankind, wither….?
Industrialization, indiscriminate deforestation, population growth, urbanization, intensification of agriculture, depletion of energy resources, decimation of flora and fauna- all this to satisfy the quest to be economically viable? Aren’t we cutting off our noses to spite our faces? Is this really development?
Aren’t we digging are own graves? Yes, we definitely are. We not only can’t afford to but dare not overlook the devastating consequences of an unsustainable growth process.
When God said, “Let us make in our image, after our likeness”, he placed man on the top of the ladder of creation. He entrusted the earth to his care. Has man lived up to the creator’s trust and expectations?
Who gave him the right to bring about such large scale annihilation? Man has sadly breached his promise to God. Is this kind of technological advancement at the cost of the environment, really warranted? Or is man just complacent to find an alternative path of sustainable development? This question should shake every thinking individual out of his slumber.
The earth choking with synthetic wastes will not provide us with food, the rivers imbued with industrial effluents will not quench our thirst and the carbon burdened air will not let us breathe, if we do not act today and we have to act now….
With this I rest my case. Thank you.
